On return from mission to Brunswick on 30 Jan 1944, B-17G #42-39889 ran off the end of the runway due to battle damage. RTD. Fell out of formation duce to flak damage and eventually crashed S of Kirchdorf on a mission to Berlin on 6 Mar 1944 in B-17G #42-31555. Prisoner of War (POW).
