On 6-September-1942 while serving as a gunner on B-17 41-24516 'Meltin' Pot' the aircraft lost two engines while en-route from Newfoundland to Thurleigh and was ditched into the sea off of Magilligan Point, Northern Ireland. The aircraft came down in shallow water and the ten crew all walked ashore.



Killed in Action (KIA) on 4-Mar-42, B-17F 42-5129 while serving as Ball Turret Gunner.
