Gerard Asmus

Gerard J. Asmus of Brooklyn, NY was a B-17 navigator in the service from 30 September 1944 to 8 December 1945. He received a Purple Heart for a mission on 8 April 1945 as part of the 385th Bombardment Group, 550th Squad as Clambake George, B Squadron to Hof Plauen, Germany. Aircraft was a B-17, 4 engine Bomber #472 call sign F/Q-50. After the service he worked in the maritime insurance industry. He passed away in 1998 but will always be remembered.
