Crash landed at Chipping Ongar 27-Sep-43 returning from mission to Beauvais/Tille airfield in B-26B 41-31666 'Wuneach'. The aircraft was hit by flak over target then attacked by fighters before the coast setting the bomb bay on fire. The Engineer baled out just after the aircraft was hit by flak over the target and was captured as a Prisoner of War (POW), 5 RTD
