MilitaryWas stationed at Kadena from Oct '45 as a ground crew member for B-29's Primary assignment for the planes was mapping Formosa and the mainland of China which I think was a secret at the time. the eighth went in July '45 and left in Aug '46 I also wrangled my way to Special Services and later I & E Duties. I edited the squadron daily newspaper (really a news letter) and managed our small radio station KRW 'the Voice of Kadena, Okinawa' One of my most notable experiences was serving on the Honor Guard for memorial services for war correspondent Ernie Pyle, on the nearby island where he was killed - Ie Shima
