Al Brooks was known as "Eggs Brooks" due to both he and John Brooks, (2nd SF commander) being at one time on the same station (Steeple Morden). Cpl. Vincent G Scarangella was an expert "scrounger" who managed to keep the 1st SF supplied with eggs, that rare wartime commodity in the UK, throughout their stay in the ETO. John Brooks was therefore known as "No eggs Brooks" and both referred to each other as such at post-war reunions.
