Damaged by flak near the target at Wernigerode, GR and then shot down by fighters on the return and crashed near Afferden, Holland on 22 Feb 1944 in B-17 42-31510 'Paperdoll'. Evaded (EVD). Returned to England by 8 Sep 1944.
