On 6 -September-1942 B-17F 41-24516 "Meltin' Pot' lost 2 engines off Londonderry after flight from Newfoundland. William Melton landed in shallow water and all crew members walked ashore.



Shot down 4 March 1943 in B-17 42-5129 while serving as Tail Gunner. Plane crashed into North Sea. Killed in Action (KIA).
