Ernest L Schrock was the Communications Section Chief NCO. He was from New Boston, Illionis, and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He graduated from Scott Field specializing in Communications in 1942. Upon completion of that course, Sgt Schrock went to Napier Air Base in Doltham, Alabama, where he began at the bottom as a radio mechanic. He worked his way up until being assigned to the 447th Bomb group, 710 Squadron, and deployed to Europe.
He had an outstanding record as a Communications Chief Not one 710 Squadron plane ever turned back from an operational mission over enemy territory due to a communications failure, proof of the outstanding work his team did.
