Shot down by flak and crashed near Pont-Audemer, France in B-17G #42-31380 on 8 February 1944. The crew baled out prior to the crash. Evaded (EVD). Sheltered, clothed, fed and transported by French citizens and members of the Résistance. Liberated by US troops on 13 August 1944 from a secret camp in the Fréteval Forest, near Châteaudun, France.
