Failed to Return (FTR) ramrod to Boulogne Mech fault on P-51B 43-6491 led to abort, oil leak severe, abandoned A/C 7 miles off White Cliffs of Dover into channel, despite an ASR Warwick being on the scene very quickly and soon after 2 launches arriving, the search proved fruitless. Killed in Action (KIA). MACR 5404.
