Ed Pleasant served as a fighter pilot with the 360th Fighter Squadron of the 356th Fighter Group, flying missions out of Martlesham Heath. He painted 'Mayor of Turner Falls' on the side of his P-47 with a winged skeleton riding a coffin and firing a machine gun.
