Military

Edward Logan was Co-Pilot of B-17 #42-5232 "Available Jones" of 305th Bomber Group / 364th Bomber Squadron, shot down on 4 April 1943. He landed in parachute near Vaudreuil, Eure Department, and was hidden at Villers-sur-le-Roule at the home of Georges and Irène Fougerard. After one night spent at their home he was guided by Georges who took a train with him to Sartrouville where he was taken in charge by a Résistance member. He reported staying for one month in Epernay by a Mr Adam, together with his Navigator Herbert Mohr. Brought to Paris, where Logan stayed with a Mr Guillot (Bernard ?) and one Madame Fabre, Lt Logan was arrested, like Mohr, on or about 21 April 1943 and sent to Germany as a Prisoner of War (POW). After his liberation from Stalag VIIA in Moosburg, he was sent on 9 May 1945 to a repatriation camp near Le Havre, France. After a few days there, he went to Paris to meet Mr Guillot and Madame Fabre, then returned to the camp. From there he was flown to England where he visited family members. He left France by boat on 9 August and arrived in Los Angeles on 22 August 1945. Honorably discharged on 6 October 1945.

Sagan, Poland 21 April 1943 - 29 April 1945 Arrested in Paris, he was interned at Stalag Luft 3 in Sagan, Poland. Force-marched from there at the end of January 1945, he arrived at Stalag VIIA in Moosburg and was liberated there on 29 April 1945 by US troops. NARA WWII POW records : "Returned to Military control 24 July 1945."
