My Uncle Teddy (Edward Nelson Grove) first entered WW2 as a sailor in the US Navy. However, he was under age and when they found out they kicked him out. He then got his Mother (Clara Grove) to sign for him and he joined the US Air Force. His bomber crew volunteered for an extra bomb run that day (July 5th, 1944). His plane was shot down. The plane blew up before my Uncle Teddy was able to parachute out. This is the story that was handed down to us. As a child I proudly wore his wings!! Until I returned them to my Aunt Clara.

I only have pictures of him as a curly haired , totally adorable little boy and two of him in his Navy uniform. Wish I could find one of him in his Air Force uniform. I missed having him as an Uncle but was always very proud of him. He is buried in the American Cemetery at Normandy.
