Arrived Liverpool, England Sept 19, 1943; 12th Replacement Depot, Stone, England 09 Sept 1943. Assigned Duxford, Eng 09/21/43, 332 Service Squadron, 333 Service Group, Instrument Shop. We remained at Duxford although squadron and group nos were changed to 819th Engineering Squadron, 443rd Air Service Group, then to 84th Service Squadron, 79th Service Group, 78th Fighter Group. In June of 1944 Went on detached service to Kilkeen, NI for 50 cal machine gun gunnery school to train to be used to defend Duxford Air Base in the event of attack. At the end of war in ETO, was transferred to 96 BG at Snetterton Heath. Assigned crew chief B-17 and flew as Engineer on supply runs to our troops in Germany. Was also crew chief of B-17 #555, from group with white triangle with the letter C (303rd BG). On 22 Nov 1945 was transferred to 32nd Troop Carrier Group, 1st Airborne Army, 9AF stationed in Frankfort-Esbourn, Ger assigned to the machine shop. Returned to USA on cargo ship, SS William Floyd, arriving NY Feb 08, 1946.
