Assigned to 350BS, 100BG, 8AF USAAF. Flew on 8 combat missions, 7 of them with pilot Mark E. Carnell. 8th Mission was a late replacement for John K. Beard, the regular radio operator on the Charles L. Duncan crew. Duncan's "Judy E" - 42-30050, was shot down by fighters over Dieppe, France 10 July 1943. Oliver suffered shattered right hip while exiting burning plane. Captured and taken Prisoner of War (POW). He was credited with one enemy kill.
