Military ROLL OF HONOUR

Tail gunner, Hess crew. 381st BG, 535th BS. Shot down 1 December 1943 in B-17 #42-3540 'Bacta-th'-Sac'. Mission #46 to Solinger, Germany. MACR 1660. Killed in Action (KIA). S/Sgt Delp was wounded in the ribs, leg, face, stomach, chest and L arm at his gun station. He possibly shot down an ME-110. He was captured with 2LT Hess and 2LT Randle. The Germans bandaged his wounds but gave him very little medical attention for three days. He was separated from the other crew members and sent to a Red Cross hospital in Brussels, Belgium. He wrote his mother a letter on 5 December 1943 stating he was doing well. S/Sgt Delp died of his wounds on 12 December 1943. Buried in the Ardennes AMC.
