Żagań, Poland | 29 May 1944 | Interned at Stalag Luft 3 in Sagan, Poland. One of his roommates mentions that after 2 months, Payne became very sick. Unable to eat his food, he lost much weight and became very weak. In very bad shape, he left Sagan around September/October 1944 to be repatriated. |
