Joined squad 3 August 1942. Shot down 27 January 1943 in B-24D 41-23776 'Spirit of '76' while serving as Bombardier. Target was Wilhelmshaven, but weather conditions were poor. Plane was attacked by FW 190s. Glass was the only survivor of the plane, rescued by the lifeboat 'Brandaris' and taken to the local hospital in Harlingen, Holland. One report had a doctor removing his foot at the hospital. He was paroled and repatriated on 26-Oct-43. Prisoner of War (POW).

Harlingen, Netherlands 27 January 1943 - 26 October 1943 He was wounded in the fighter attack but was able to bale out of the stricken aircraft over the Waddenzee, Holland and rescued by the lifeboat "Brandaris" and taken to a hospital in Harlingen, Holland. He was paroled and repatriated on 26-Oct-1943.
