Enemy fighters shot down his plane on a mission to Berlin. David parachuted into enemy territory and was captured by German soldiers. After spending 14 months as a Prisoner of War (POW) he was liberated in May 1945.
Shot down by fighters on a mission to Erkner, Berlin on 8 Mar 1944, B-17G #42-31576 crashed near Wegenstadt after the crew baled out near Helmstedt, GR. Prisoner of War (POW).
