Clifford Hunt served as an airplane mechanic/gunner with the 848th Bomb Squadron of the 490th Bomb Group. He kept a journal for the first 14 missions, but when he realized his handwriting was getting smaller and tighter with each entry, he quit writing. As a result of the war and his experience flying, he went to University of Southern California and studied psychology, specializing in what is now called PTSD. Until his death on 18 Feb 2018 (aged 95), he worked with veterans from all wars a VA Hospital in Arizona and has gathered bio interviews of many for the national archives.
