12 April 1944 42-109789 was hit by AA fire (flak) during their return over enemy held territory in Holland, east of and over Dunkirk. The two Waist Gunners bailed out presumably thinking the plane was going down. However, the aircraft and other crewmembers landed safely back at Wendling later.
