Shot down 14 July 1943 in B-17 #42-3190 "Mr. Five By Five". Evaded (EVD). Helped by French citizens and members of the Résistance. Guided to the South of France, he crossed the Pyrénées mountains into Spain. Led to Gibraltar, he was flown back from there back in England on 5 October 1943. Escape & Evasion Report E&E 110.
