Walter Earl Bingham
Military1st Lt. Walter E. Bingham was born in Ogden, Utah on Oct. 10th, 1921 and graduated from Weber State Collage. He married Donna Shewell on March 4th, 1944 and was sent overseas in May 1944. He was assigned to the 367th FG, 392nd FS. On January 19th, 1945, 1st Lt. Walter Bingham was flying P-38J-25 44-23577 "Omar" from Juvincourt France to the area just west of Bitburg, Germany on an armed reconnaissance mission. From an altitude of 3,500 feet, Lt. Bingham made a bombing run on a motor transport column. a heavy concentration of light flack hit Lt. Bingham's P-38 and it burst into flames. Seconds later the plane hit the ground and exploded. Lt. Bingham was killed in the crash.
