Thala, Tunisia 22 February 1943 Staff Sergeant Dill was a gunner on A-20B Havoc #41-3140, assigned to the 86th Bomb Squadron, 47th Bombardment Group, 12th Air Force in World War II. They took off from Youks-les-Bains airfield, Algeria on a bombing mission against the Kasserine Pass at Thala, Tunisia. The plane was shot down by anti-aircraft fire and all three men aboard were killed.
