Flight OfficerChester DeShurley served in the WWII European Theater for 11 months, flew in five invasions, and was awarded the Air Medal with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. After the end of WWII, he served as a pilot at the Sedalia Army Air Field and was killed on 24 February 1946, when his plane crashed while attempting a landing at the Sedalia Army Airforce Field.
