Shot Down/Captured/Escaped

Tinchebray, France 7 August 1944 Crownrich was shot down while attacking tanks and vehicles hidden under trees. On his 2nd pass he was hit, setting his a/c on fire, blowing off his canopy and shattering his right leg and ankle. Crownrich parachuted into the troops he had just attacked. He later escaped from a hospital in Paris.
