John Forrest Boersig
MilitaryOn 01 July 1942 Jack enlisted in the service from Chanute Field, Illinois, as a private in the Air Corps. He had one year of college education, was single, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as: "Accountants and auditors".
We have Flight Officer Boersig listed on the 437th TCG Special Orders #195, dated 27 December 1943. These were the orders generated at Pope Field (Fort Bragg, NC) for the first phase of movement by air and by rail of the 437th personnel to their eventual overseas deployment.
We have him listed as participating in one 437th flight as a Glider Pilot: the Operation VARSITY Mission of 24 March 1945.
According to Frank Guild's book: 'Journey to the Far Shore', Jack was a member of the 84th TCS in 1945.
