MilitaryUSAAF Photo
Colonel James Edward Roughgarden (RET USAF) was born in Patterson New Jersey (USA) in 1922. At the age of 5 he knew he wanted to be a pilot when he grew up. He proudly served his country just under 40 yrs, and survived 75 missions in his P-51 Mustang ‘Jersey Bounce’ during WWll. His plane was named after a tactical move used during missions against the enemy. He was a man of great integrity and extremely intelligent. A very humble and kind man who truly loved his country. When thanked for his service his response always was “ It was an honor and privilege to serve’ I love and miss you dad. Your loving daughter, Melissa.
