Megan Lewis
MilitaryFirst Lieutenant Megan Lewis a nurse with the Queen Alexandra’s Nursing Corps, was staying in Great Rollright on the night of 23-Dec-44, when B-17 43-38812 crashed at Great Rollright. Grabbing her medical bag she made her way to the crash site to tend the casualties four of whom died at the scene, four later died of their wounds.
Sgt Clifford A Heinrich is still alive due to Nurse Lewis's skill. Having passed away in 2001, her daughter, Diane Gomersall, travelled from England to Cape Girardeau to meet the man her mother helped rescue, when on 21-Mar-2016 he was awarded his medals.
