Col Bob was my grandpop. He didn’t talk much about the war, but he had a nephew who was a little older than my mother. At the time, he sent pictures of the Ploesti raid to my cousin, Robert Ellzey. My cousin told me about getting Samba records direct from Brazil from when they were ferrying these bombers to North Africa. Col Bob went on to be a PR man for GE and a pretty cool grandpop. My son has Hall as his middle name in honor of him. I remember tearing around Dallas in a 67 Corvette with him when I was a kid.
