SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER. HE ENLISTED ON 24 MARCH 1943 IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS AS AN ARMY AIR FORCE 405 CLERK TYPIST FOR THE HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON, 302ND TRANSPORT WING. HIS UNIT WAS BASED AT 519TH GROVE BERKSHIRE (ROYAL AIR FORCE STATION GROVE), GREAT BRITAIN. IN 1944 AFTER THE INVASION OF EUROPE; WAS IN PARIS, FRANCE AND LATER IN BELGIUM IN 1945. SERVICE YEARS: 1943-1946. ARMY AIR CORPS/BASIC TRAINING, CHANUTE FIELD, ILLINOIS; 1943-1946. SERVED IN 302ND TRANSPORT WING. LAST SERVICE BRANCH ADJUTANT GENERAL CORPS; ADJUTANT GENERAL (ENLISTED). YEARS OF BATTLE, 1944-1945: EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER, RHINELAND CAMPAIGN (15 SEPTEMBER 1944 TO 21 MARCH 1945), CENTRAL EUROPE (22 MARCH TO 11 MAY 1945). RECEIVED EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER MEDAL, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN THEATER MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND BRONZE CAMPAIGN STARS (FOR CENTRAL EUROPE, RHINELAND AND NORTHERN FRANCE).
