Lawrence McFarlan Duncan
Military ROLL OF HONOURKilled on 17 Feb 1945 when B-24 42-51149 ditched in North Sea after mission recall.
Mac Duncan was a pilot of B24s stationed at Old Buckenham, East Anglia, England. He was from Asheville, NC. At Westover Field, MA he assembled his 10 man crew for overseas. He asked Charles M. Frank (who was to be a pilot) to be his co-pilot and identical twins Jack and Joe Hensley(S. St. gunners) to join in. All four were from the same home town, Asheville, NC. Their crew was the only crew with four members from the same home town. Sadly, 2-17-1945, their plane iced up and spun into the English channel. Only four crew members were able to jump out. The only Asheville man to parachute out was Charles Frank.
Air Medal; Purple Heart
