18 October 1943 on a recalled mission, the engine of B-17 #42-3526 caught on fire forcing crew to bail out over south coast of England. Pilot Sabel was one of 4 crewmen who was hospitalized. All crew returned.

22 October 1943 accident on landing B-17#42-37803 on flight to Hucknall to pick up Bombardier from hospital. All crew returned.
