William John Martin
Military ROLL OF HONOURImage provided by, and uploaded on behalf of Myles Stempin/ user MilosNC, relative.
I never knew my Uncle Willie...like many of the family members of those who served in World War II. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on October 1, 1920 to Charles and Amelia Martin and was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from G.A.R Memorial High School in 1938 and always wanted to be an aviator. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1939. He died on July 7, 1944, while on a bombing mission, when his B-17 42-107070 'North Star' collided with another B-17 over Hoorn, Holland. Killed in Action (KIA). MACR 7218
Awards: AM (3OLC), PH.
