Shot down probably by flak on a mission to Berlin on 4 Mar 1944 in B-17G #42-31169 'Hey Mabel!'. Killed in Action (KIA).



According to MACR 2998, Irvin was the Right Waist Gunner on #42-38169. There was a fire in the radio compartment of the aircraft, reason unknown. The Pilot peeled out of formation, the aircraft went into a spin, and crashed. 5 KIA
