William F Tanner

Flew on 'Prudence 7th' While escorting a crippled B-17 December 5 1944 over Berlin at 500ft he was bounced by a group of FW 190s. The B-17 was shot down, Tanner was credited with one FW destroyed and one damaged. On 26 March 1945 the squadron suffered 7 aborts due to icy conditions; Tanner was one on them, having to exit the plane - suffering only minor injuries- which crashed at Shalford near Braintree.
