Carroll V Sherman
MilitaryHe served as a S/Sergeant for the colonel of the squadron, he never saw combat. The realization, however, that he was contributing to issuance of orders that sent men into the skies to their deaths had a lasting impact on him, especially when many planes di not return. When he returned home in 1945, he did not accept his medals and until many years later because he felt he did not deserve them. It was only weeks before he died in Feb. 2000 that he recalled this memory
EAME Medal;Good Conduct; Pres. Unit Citation; WW II Medal; American Campaign Medal ETO Medal
