Killed in Action (KIA). B-26C #41-34853 'Toid Boid'. Shot down by flak on mission to Ijmuiden, Holland. Crashed 1 mile east of Ijmuiden coast. In 1943 his plane was forced down in the North Sea, and he was awarded the Air Medal, and promoted to Major, after his retrieval of the portable radio helped to save the entire crew.
