On 26 February 1943 in B-17F 41-24604 'Arkie' [KY:D], 305BG/366BS while serving as Bombardier the aircraft was attacked by fighters on the mission to Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The plane crashed near Hooksiel 10 miles north of the target. All bailed out and became Prisoner of War (POW)s



Earlier on taking off from Gander 24 October 1942 B17F-20-BO 41-24530 deviated to the left and hit pillbox, lifted up then slid to a stop on a nearby runway. Pilot Adams and passenger McMurray were injured. Aircraft extensively damaged and accident is listed as a ferry loss.
