Object Number - UPL 14387 - Seymour "Ike" Isaacs

Seymour Wolf Isaacs “Ike” was born in Brooklyn, New York (Coney

Island). He grew up around sail boats and enjoyed the ocean; but he

always longed to be a pilot.

Ike joined the Army Air Corps in WWII, and while waiting for pilot

training he attended aircraft mechanic’s school. Ike became an 18 yearold

Boeing B-17 bomber pilot flying 35 missions over war ravaged Europe.

He managed to bring his plane “Sugah” and crew home each time. They

suffered battle damage from flak and German fighters.
