near Brunswick, Germany 8 April 1944 Attacked by German fighters, knocking out #2 engine and starting a large fire in the bomb bay. The fire had caused the bail out alarm to go off at which time Wilkinson bailed out along with two others. Eventually all the crew were forced to bail out. There was one KIA (Slager) among the crew
