Russell P Judd

Russell Judd served as a fighter pilot first with the Royal Canadian Air Force and then with the USAAF. He was with the 56th Fighter Group Nov. 1944-Feb. 1945, then transferred to 5th ERS. This special rescue unit was started in Jan 1945 and based at Halesworth with the 56th FG.
Lieutenant Judd died when his P-47, 42-74705, 'Lady Lorelei', collided with another during mock combat over Fritton Lake, Somerleyton, Suffolk. He is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery.
