19 March 1945 German document called "Nachweis über Verstorbene Angehörige der Vereinten Nationen in den Lazaretten Zu Herborn" (Identification of died memebers of the United Nations at the mitlitary hospitals at Herborn) indicates that caver died on March 19th 1945. However, his grave stone dated the 28th March 1945. He was exhuminated on January 16th 1946 and brought to Margarten / Netherlands
