Barbara Bartlett remembers him:
"My fiancé, Captain Robert W. Harriman, had completed his 52 missions and was to return home for his wedding. However, on Christmas Eve, a Lt. General in the Royal Air Force said he would fly with Robert if he would fly one more mission due to the ‘Battle of the Bulge’. They both were shot down but managed to save the bombardier and some other crewman."
"The Lt. General’s sister came to see me and return my letters and photos. My mother burned all of my records of him, so I would get on with my life."
