Bombardier, Cormany crew. Member of the Manchester crew. 381st BG, 535th BS. Shot down 8 October 1943 in B-17 #42-30864. Mission #36 to the shipyards at Bremen, Germany. MACR 885. Killed in Action (KIA).



Unknown how Lt Black died. Major Ingenhutt was the last man to bail out and did not see Lt Black in the nose where he was seen prior. Buried in the Netherlands AMC. The 381st BG was awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation for this mission.
