Brendan Joseph Lynch


Assigned to 615BS, 401BG, 8AF USAAF. 30 x missions in B-17 'Mary Alice. ' On fifth mission, 13-Jul-44, was attacked by FW190's and ME109's. Emergency landing at RAF base. Tail Gunner, Ed Page, fatally wounded. Plane heavily damaged.

Awards: DFC (OLC), AM (4OLC), GC, WWII Victory, EAME (2 x Battle Stars).

'In memory of S/Sgt Brendan J Lynch (1921-2000), 401st Bomb Group, Deenethorpe: radio waist gunner, member of crew 13. Flew 30 missions in the B-17 'Mary Alice', on exhibit at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, England [sic]- representing the crippled 'forts' that somehor bought their crews back to England. Sgt Lynch received the DFC.'
