Military ROLL OF HONOURAll information correct as on Roll of Honor board
In the Army Corps since December 1941, Richard Duer served a year in Panama and South America on bomber patrol duty. He was subsequently sent back to the States for training as a flight engineer on a B-24 Liberator bomber and was then sent overseas in June 1943. Staff Sgt. Duer was the husband of Mrs. Doris Coder Duer, 8 Second Street, Ridgeley, West Virginia. He had been reported missing in action since November 13, 1943, when he failed to return from an aerial raid over Bremen, Germany. His B-24D #42-41004 “The Urgin' Virgin” (on which he served as Tail Gunner) was lost in the North Sea on the 13 November 1943 mission to Bremen, Germany, with all 11 men onboard still missing.
