Richard C Taylor
Military"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 22 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
Richard got his wings and was commissioned in August 1943, then crewed up and flew across to join the Group at Knettishall. He was only 19 years old when he was made lead pilot. 'Off'days were spent in London where he once danced with Sarah Churchill, the Prime Minister's daughter. Towards the end of the war in Europe the bombers dropped leaflets -as well as bombs- which announced 'Sie Kommen' (we're coming) and made promises of humane treatment to surrendering soldiers. Post war Richard finished college and was then a sales rep for electronic products.
