I am the nephew of Lt. Daniel J. Mangan, pilot KIA on "To Hell or Glory." I have interviewed surviving members of the crew and they called Ray Smith "Red". This is according to Radio Operator, Dick Ennis, and Right Waist Gunner Henry "Dutch" Schultz (still living as of this writing)
